The final parkrun of the year was blessed with beautiful winter sunshine, which warmed up a chilly morning.
Contrary to what we said in the last report, Emanuele Musolino came back to see us,even though it was neither rainy or particularly muddy, and took some more great photos (link).
This time around 28 parkrunners met up for the 39th Roma Pineta parkrun, including6 touristsfrom Englandand South Africa.
In fact the South African Duane MATTHEWS surprised us by being the fastest of the day. Our own Luigi DE LUCA, despite already having finished his training session before parkrun, stuck with him right to the end and came close to a new PB.
Duane and his friend Stuart THOMSON (who walked with the tail) both have 100 parkruns under their belts, but Saturday's veteran was the Englishman Richard ROBINSON with 187 events!
Turning to the ladies, Severina FERRANTINI shone once again with a new improved time for the second week in a row, which this time gave her the position of fastest woman.
The cold but dry weather allowed for numerous improvements: the most notable being Renzo MANSUETI who despite the odd niggle is fast approaching the 20 minute mark (20.08).
Right behind him we had Angelo PICARDI,another who is consistently getting better on our course.
Cinzia TURNATURI put in a great performance, taking a second off her previous best and we hope to see her return to competitive racing in 2019 after a long period on the sidelines.
Among those who set a new PB, we must mention Gilberto BURGIO who besides running ever faster has made a habit recently of giving us a hand to closed own the event: thanks for volunteering Gilberto!
The last parkrun of the year also saw many new faces that we hope to see again in 2019: besides the week's tourists we also had 6 new entries. We are particularly pleased that one of them was a young under 10 year old!
We hope to see them and all of you in 2019 for another year of parkrun together.
